Alor Setar, March 5 – In a heartwarming display of commitment to community improvement, the Raja Muda of Kedah, Duli Yang Teramat Mulia Tengku Sarafudin Badlishah Ibni Sultan Sallehuddin, graced the ‘Majlis Penyampaian Kembali Ke Sekolah dan Baik Pulih Surau Kampung Kuala Tualak’ with his presence among the villagers of Kampung Kuala Tualak, in Kuala Nerang. This program, organised by Yiked Bina Sdn Bhd (YBSB), under his chairmanship, involved distributing school bags and stationery to the children as preparation for the coming school session, underscoring a deep commitment to holistic community development and nurturing thriving communities.
In tandem with this visit, YBSB unveiled the newly refurbished Surau Kampung Kuala Tualak, a project that symbolises its commitment to making a difference in rural communities. Situated within the JENDELA project, the renovation was made possible through Wakalah funds donated by YBSB’s parent company, EDOTCO Group, to rejuvenate the facility. The renovation which started in October last year, took four months to complete. The comprehensive restoration included the replacement of roofing and windows, along with new carpets, fresh paint, curtains, and a new sound system, revitalising the facility as a community hub for daily Islamic classes.
YBSB, alongside EDOTCO Group, is dedicated to enacting transformative changes within rural communities, through initiatives that enhance healthcare, welfare, and environmental programs. The ‘Majlis Penyampaian Kembali Ke Sekolah dan Baik Pulih Surau Kampung Kuala Tualak’ is a key component of YBSB's extensive community enhancement program within EDOTCO’s Tower to Community framework. This initiative saw over 50 committed employees contribute 900 volunteer hours to various community-focused activities, including river cleaning, tree planting, and installing solar streetlights, promoting sustainable living among the villagers.
“This event marks not just a day of celebration but a step forward in our journey to build resilient and thriving communities. At YBSB, we believe in the power of collective action and the transformative impact of holistic development. Our initiatives in Kampung Kuala Tualak, from revitalising community spaces to fostering sustainable lifestyles and supporting education, reflect our unwavering dedication to this cause,” said Khirul Anuar, General Manager at YBSB.
A collaborative river cleaning effort with E-Idaman Waste Management on March 4 resulted in the collection of more than 1000 kilograms of waste, significantly benefiting the community’s environmental welfare and aligning with YBSB & EDOTCO’s sustainability and waste management objectives.
To further environmental consciousness, the Malaysian Nature Society (MNS) facilitated tree planting activities and biodiversity education sessions. Additionally, free medical check-ups by Klinik Kesihatan Alor Setar were provided, addressing the essential healthcare needs of the villagers.
“In collaboration with YBSB and under the leadership of Raja Muda of Kedah, EDOTCO Group is proud to support the ‘Majlis Penyampaian Kembali Ke Sekolah dan Baik Pulih Surau Kampung Kuala Tualak,’ showcasing our commitment to holistic community development. The renovation of Surau Kampung Kuala Tualak and various community-focused initiatives underscore our dedication to uplifting rural communities and fostering positive change.
